Free music for free people!
Basbotten is an mp3-label mainly focused on free releases of
experimental dancemusic mainly from northern Sweden.
Most of the release are made by or in collaboration under
some alias of the label-owner (Jätten).
Since 2025 has the label moved away from the albumformat to instead focus on ever expanding thematic albums. The reasoning behind that is that the album format is not that relevant for dancemusic. The possibility to update an album with relevant songs without the limits of space and time seems like a better fit for digital releases of DJ-oriented music.
The focus right now is on the album Danstillståndet but other thematic albums will be started when there is a connection between what music or themes that basbotten wants to explore deeper and our audience feels excited about.
